For the first time in Paris, Italian sculptor Riccardo Gatti will be presenting his original creations, specially created for the Révélations biennial.
Riccardo Gatti perpetuates the legacy of the great masters by exploring the relationship between the Human Being, the Earth and the Cosmos through marble. Thanks to a subtle interplay between form and material, he creates almost living sculptures that embody exceptional craftsmanship. Each block of marble is uniquely its own, with natural veins creating fascinating patterns. Rather than altering them, Riccardo Gatti sublimates this intrinsic beauty, letting the stone reveal its memory and timeless essence.
Following in the footsteps of Italian masters such as Michelangelo, Riccardo Gatti embodies the passion and excellence of marble sculpting skills. As a student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, he discovered the inner depth that nourishes art. ‘Like a volcano that continually gives birth to things: it's not me who chooses, it's something that simply happens,’ he confides. These words convey a vision in which creation transcends mere human will to become the messenger of a force that transcends it.
Riccardo Gatti's artistic research is based on a fundamental principle: the absence of separation between the human being, the elements of the Earth and the Cosmos. Marble thus becomes much more than a simple material: it is the witness to a thousand years of history, a condensation of time and energy frozen in stone. Each block of marble has its own singularity, its natural veins forming unique patterns, offering an intrinsic beauty that the artist strives to reveal rather than alter.
Riccardo Gatti's approach is rooted in a profound reflection: how can we make the most of the material that supports our lives, the material of our mountains, and which contains within it layers of eternity? Through a subtle interplay between form and material, Riccardo Gatti creates sculptures in which the human hand interacts with the history of the world. He sculpts not to impose, but to reveal, letting the marble express its own memory and timeless essence.
Through his work, he invites the viewer to contemplate, where stone becomes the mirror of a universe in perpetual motion. Each sculpture is a fragment of the infinite, an imprint of the cosmos engraved in matter. Through this subtle alchemy between the human and the mineral, Riccardo Gatti perpetuates an artistic tradition of excellence, while inscribing his work in a spiritual and philosophical quest for an indefectible link between man and the universe.
Riccardo Gatti will be exhibiting on the Country of Honour stand as well as on the G8 stand.
