Ateliers d'art de France presents

Banquet Ireland

The Design & Crafts Council Ireland presents a series of pieces by seven emerging and established Irish artisans illustrating the wild and raw beauty of the country. This selection invokes the natural forces of the Emerald Isle, subtly mastered by sincere and creative talents. Turned wood, slate and ceramics collide and respond to each other in rhythm, establishing an exceptional and avant-garde dialogue in the heart of Europe.

A WORD FROM THE CURATOR AVA HAYES

The Design and Craft Council of Ireland brings together a diverse group of contemporary Irish artists and craftspeople for Révélations 2025. The works presented draw inspiration from the raw, untamed landscapes of Ireland with each piece exploring the profound connection between the land and those who inhabit it - reflecting both the beauty and the complexities of our environment.

The artists featured employ a wide range of materials, from metal and clay to wood and found materials, combining traditional craft techniques with modern artistic practices and cutting edge design. Their works blur the boundaries between sculpture, architecture, and natural form, creating objects that resonate with the contours and rhythms of their surrounding landscape.

At the heart of their practice lies a shared respect for the intrinsic qualities of their materials and the land from which they come. Through these creations, the artists invite us to reflect on our own relationship to the land, not as passive observers but as active participants in its ongoing narrative. The works encourage us to reconsider the boundaries between the human-made and the natural, urging a more harmonious dialogue between the two.

By melding contemporary craft with the primal force of the Irish landscape, these artists evoke the tension between the raw power of nature and the delicate intervention of human hands. This selection of work is not only a celebration of skill and craftsmanship but also a meditation on place, identity, and the ways in which we shape, and are shaped by, the land we call home.
